U.S. Soccer has developed the Safe Soccer Framework as a foundation from which all participants in the soccer community, be they athletes, coaches, referees, administrators or volunteers, play an active role in creating an environment free from emotional, physical or sexual abuse. The Safe Soccer Framework is a comprehensive program of policies and process, screening, education and training, reporting, monitoring and enforcement designed to help participants detect and report abuse, respond to it, and prevent future occurrences.
SafeSport Training
SafeSport’s approach to preventing abuse in sport begins with awareness and how to recognize the red flags of emotional, physical and sexual misconduct, and then what to do if abuse does occur. In accordance with the SafeSport Authorization Act & U.S. Soccer’s Safe Soccer Framework, MSA requires anyone 18 and older to complete SafeSport Training certification prior to interacting with youth soccer players.
Background Checks
In accordance with U.S. Soccer’s Safe Soccer Framework, anyone 18 and older is required to submit a MSA background check prior to interacting with youth soccer players. All MSA background checks are conducted by our partners at JDP. Unfavorable background checks (requiring adjudication) are adjudicated by our partners at InjureFree.
